CHERYL SVORSVE MISS PRIDE OF AFRICA UK QUEEN 2016/2017
Cheryl Whitney Svosve is 24 years old, born in Croydon, UK with Zimbabwean heritage. A university graduate and a Creative Director.
She has always been interested in the Creative Industries from a young age. she has a passion for performing arts, fashion and beauty. She aspires to be the best version of herself that she can be.
During her reign as Miss Pride of Africa UK, she was campaigning for disadvantaged children in Africa. She worked closely with Ndoro Children’s Charities. Ms. Cheryl states that she was so challenged, inspired and elevated. However, was honoured to have the opportunity to travel to Zimbabwe and Nigeria.
Before travelling to Zimbabwe, she collected donations (clothes, books, bags, and shoes, stationary) from family and friends. The donations were shipped to Zimbabwe and when we arrived, we distributed them to local schools and orphanages. We prepared serval meals and gave them out to homeless children and adults in the city centre Harare. This was truly an emotional experience. Local news and radio stations heard about the work she was doing and interviewed her. She travelled to different schools and gave talks. Previously, she set up a GoFundMe account and with the proceeds raised, we were able to fix a school roof which was dilapidated.
Details of her trip ended up front page of a local newspaper. She was astonished. In Nigeria, she had the opportunity to do her first ever cover shoot with Superbold Magazine. This was an incredible experience. We travelled to one of the poorest towns in Oyo State and fed the homeless. She attended a launch party and was a judge at a children’s day event in a school in Ibadan. I was also interviewed on Splash FM radio station.
In the United Kingdom, she attended a variety of amazing events including other pageants, HIV aids campaigns, fashion shows, award shows, charity events, and she was interviewed on BENTV. Myself and the Miss Pride of Africa UK team volunteered at a soup kitchen.

My reign was a phenomenal experience and I’m so blessed to have been able to achieve this title. In the future, I aspire to continue to travelling the world and help the less privileged. I’d like to elevate in my career and one day invest in Africa. Africa is the Motherland and it’s important that we build up our nation. As a former African Queen, I’d say to the youths “Be the change you want to see in the world, and go after your dreams and ambitions wholeheartedly. Make your mark on this earth and leave a legacy.”
